STEPS TO TAKE WHEN PLANNING A KITCHEN
THINGS TO DO FIRST:
- Collect information,
photos, and magazine articles on your kitchen. It is also helpful
as well as interesting to visit a few “Parade
of Homes”. They can be full of ideas.
- Try to establish
some form of a budget that you will be able to live with.
- Draw a rough sketch
of your current floor plan and take measurements (you can go to
our “how
to measure” guide
and follow the instructions provided there). If you are building
than you should bring your blue print.
- If you find it
helpful, print and fill out our “Kitchen Planning
Guide”.
- Call us at 715-455-1250
to set up an appointment, or feel free to stop in during our regular
business hours.
VISITING OUR SHOWROOM:
When you stop in
and see us for the first time you can expect the following :
- We will answer any questions that you may have.
- You will be able to browse through multiple displays showing a variety
of products and design options.
- Review your budget
and see if it seems reasonable for the size area you may have including
your “want to haves”.
- Take a look at your
floor plan or blue print and go over some ideas we may have as well as
listen to your ideas you want incorporated.
- After reviewing your information that was provided on your first
visit we will come up with a design and will give you an estimated
cost for the project. This will generally be within a week of your
visit.
IF YOU DECIDE TO HAVE US SUPPLY YOUR CABINETS:
Once we have received a down payment…
- We come out
to your home to make final measurements and give recommendations
on the design that was developed.
- We will finalize
the design and develop perspectives, elevations, and a floor
plan.
- We will bring
with us to your job site measurement, stain samples as well as
door samples and review all the information concerning your cabinets
to make sure our information is accurate at the time we will
be placing your order.
Depending on the manufacturer you choose to go with your expected
delivery time will be 4 ½ to 5 weeks. Some manufacturers
have longer delivery times – you will be advised
of this when you have visited our showroom
and have looked at the various displays
from different companies.
- We will notify
you of your approximate delivery date when we have received the
order acknowledgement.
- We deliver
the cabinets in an enclosed trailer and will bring them into
your home. It is a good idea for the cabinets to sit in the house
a couple of days before they are installed so the wood has a
chance to acclimate to the environment. Once the cabinets have
been set by the installer we will come back out and measure for
the counter tops (this applies to the laminated tops only, these
then are also delivered by us when they arrive). If going with
solid surface or stone tops the fabricator will be coming to
do a template of the area and will do the installation of those
products. This is necessary for the warranty to be honored and
is already included with the pricing of these products.
EXPECT CHAOS
Remodeling is a messy business. Yet some homeowners are still
surprised by the amount of dust and upheaval it generates.
Even with the best of circumstances, there’s a good chance it’s going to be stressful. Discuss these
and other peacekeeping issues beforehand, including rules about smoking in
the house, which bathroom to use, where to park vehicles and so on. Also,
avoid the work zone as much as possible, for your safety and that of the
workers. Keep in mind that children are notorious for their fascination with
the tools and big messes of remodeling. Arrange a few supervised visits to
satisfy their curiosity, but make sure they are otherwise occupied and out
of harm’s way. When it is all said and done it will be well worth
the effort and you will have lots of time to truly enjoy your new kitchen!
